PC GamingA
video game is a game that involves interaction with a user interface to
generate visual feedback on a video device. A gaming computer is a computer
with additional hardware and performance suitable to play PC-based video games.
The word video in video game traditionally refers to a TV display, and usually
applies to
console gaming platforms. However, as far back as 1980, Atari Home
Computers were true gaming computers. Of course now the popular use of the term
"video game", it now implies any type of display device, played on a gaming
console or gaming computer. Some of the important differences between a regular
office PC and a true game computer are: specially designed gaming computer
cases, high-end
video cards which require custom
cooling, increased
memory, and additional
accessories including
neon lighting. Early personal computer based games historically relied on
the availability of a keyboard or limited
joystick for gameplay, or more commonly, required the user to purchase a
separate joystick with at least one button to play. Many modern computer games
allow the player to use a
keyboard and mouse simultaneously, as well as use highly sophisticated
game controllers. Beyond the common element of visual feedback, video games
have utilized other systems to provide interaction and information to the
player. Chief examples of these are sound reproduction devices, such as
speakers and headphones, and an array of haptic peripherals, such as
vibration or force feedback.
Even more than with regular PCs, heat is an ever greater threat! Gaming
computer processors and video cards produce much more waste heat. Without the right kinds of
computer cooling, heat can destroy your high speed computer. Even gaming
computers fresh out of the box can benefit from improved
case fans and
CPU processor fans. By upgrading your game system's cooling you can have
cooler systems and dramatically extend the reliable life of your computer. In
many cases you can even improve the performance of your computer by
cooling -
memory and processors can run faster when cool. Manufacturers such as:
Kingwin,
Masscool by Fanner Tech,
ThermalTake,
Ultra, and others, make a wide variety of accessories for computer cooling
that make cooler systems.
