Data Collection Opt-Out Instructions
Because CompUSA values your privacy, we use Coremetrics, a service provider,
to help us gather and analyze information about our customers. Coremetrics'
only role is to help us conduct our business and deliver the most relevant
products and services. If you would like to deactivate our ability to analyze
your anonymous browsing and purchase behavior through the use of this service,
we offer two methods for you to opt-out. In order for these
options to take effect, you must first accept a cookie from this site or one of
our clients' sites. The cookie will only allow us to recognize you with a random
and unique ID number, but will be critical in identifying you in our database to
ensure your opt-out selection is applied appropriately.
If you have your browser set to automatically accept cookies, proceed to the opt-out selection at the bottom of this page.
If you set your browser to prompt you for permission to receive a cookie, and have not already accepted a CompUSA/ Coremetrics cookie, please click "Refresh" and accept the cookie from this page when prompted.
Next, select one of the opt-out choices available to you.
Once you hit "submit" your selection will take effect immediately across all CompUSA's participating sites.
What Happens After You Select Your Opt-Out Option?
Your CompUSA/ Coremetrics cookie contains a unique numeric ID. If you select the
"Anonymous Visitor" option, your cookie will be reset to read "anonymous." If you
select "Total Opt-Out," it will read "opt-out." If, for any reason, you remove this
cookie from your hard drive (for instance, when you reinstall or update your browser),
you will need to renew your opt-out selection.
Once you make your selection, a dialog box should appear to confirm that your opt-out choice was successful. The opt-out will remain in effect for as long as the cookie remains on your hard drive.
If you use more than one Web browser or computer, you will need to opt-out in each one. PLEASE NOTE that if you upgrade your browser to a new version, including without limitation Microsoft's Internet Explorer 6.0, you may need to opt out again.
