Features
- Quad-Core Processor
Provides four complete execution cores in a single Processor with 8 MB of
L2 cache and a 1066 MHz Front Side Bus. Four dedicated, physical threads help
operating systems and applications deliver additional performance, so end
users can experience better multi-tasking and multi-threaded performance across
many types of applications and work loads.
- Intel® Wide Dynamic Execution
Improves execution speed and efficiency, delivering more instructions per clock
cycle. Each of the four cores can complete up to four full instructions simultaneously.
- Intel® Advanced Smart Cache
Shared Level 2 cache across each pair of cores that can be dynamically allocated
to each processor core, within the pair, based on workload. This efficient
implementation increases the probability that each core within the pair can
access data from fast L2 cache, signifcantly reducing latency to frequently
used data and improving performance.
- Intel® Advanced Digital Media Boost
Accelerates the execution of Streaming SIMD Extension (SSE) instructions to
significantly improve the performance on a broad range of applications, including
video, audio, image and photo processing, multimedia, encryption, financial,
engineering and scientific applications. The 128-bit SSE instructions are now
issued at a throughput rate of one per clock cycle effectively doubling their
speed of execution on a per clock basis over previous generation processors.
- Intel® Virtualization Technology
Allows one hardware platform to function as multiple “virtual” platforms.
Intel® VT improves manageability, limiting downtime and maintaining worker
productivity by isolating computing activities into separate partitions.
- Digital Thermal Sensor (DTS)
Provides for more ef.cient processor and platform thermal control improving
system acoustics. The DTS continuously measures the temperature at each processing
core. The ability to continuously measure and detect variations in processor
temperature enables system fans to spin only as fast as needed to cool the
system. The combination of these technologies can result in significantly lower
noise emissions from the PC.
- Intel Designed Thermal Solution for Boxed Processors
Includes a 4-pin connector for fan speed control to help minimize the acoustic
noise levels generated from running the fan at higher speeds for thermal performance.
Fan speed control technology is based on actual CPU temperature and power
usage.

| Okay, I seriously don't want to gloat in everyone's faces who's gotten the Q6600, but this can seriously handle everything better than the Q6600, even so, both have their overclocking abilities, too. Have mine on stock cooling (didn't get the new liquid-cooling yet) running pretty well at 2.96GHz only at 1.297volts. Pretty good compared to the 2.89GHz with 1.37volts on my other Q6600 computer. G0 stepping is a must with this, getting Crysis running stable on overclocked CPU's was hard, got one or two crashes, but when working corectly, I get up to 43fps max with 2 GeForce 8800 GTX's. not sure about getting tri-SLI, but sure it'll be futureproof for a wwhhiille. I think this'll be better than the other quad core, bu the steep change in price is hilarious lol... Still, maybe finding a 45nm Quad core is better, like the Q9300 or the Q9550, both are better, with the Q9300 starting at 2.5GHz. Get this(or other intel quads) or wait for the 45nm's... |

| Now this may be because I previously had a Pentium 4 HT 3.4Ghz computer but WOW. I have to say what a smart and intuitive CPU.Works flawlessly and and the stock fan keeps the CPU cool around 29*C and at max load 38*C. Thing is if you expect to get pass 2.8Ghz with stability you will need a better source of cooling whether fan or heat sink. Any way no matter what i do i cant get the CPU percentage too 100% without using stress test. Quad core is the best on the market right now. |
