I picked this card up about two weeks ago and so far im very pleased. When playing crysis I gained 9 frames per second vs. onboard audio. I gave value a 4 because of the price but overall this is a very good sound card

I gave ''Value'' 3 stars, because not many of us have 140 dollars to drop on a sound card when any will do for the average user. However, I'm a musician and I'm a gamer and a music enthusiest.
Imagine this: Let's say you're listening to 'scream' metal. For the first time... EVER... you can understand the singer. Amazing? Honestly, it's to be expected with this kind of technology. I'm not kidding when I say this will make old crappy speakers sound amazing. Freeing up your system resources with on-board audio ram built into the card helps a lot, too. Finally, it asks you ''Do you wish to auto-update your drivers and hardware?'' and retreives the drivers for your Operating System without doing anything more than clicking, ''Yes!'' How easy is that?
Music sounds insanely good. Games run better (higher frame rates on the latest stuff!) because the card has onboard dedicated ram. There are inputs for music creators AND tons of outputs, plus its gold plated (Lan party abuse!)

Overall I am pleased, I am unsure how well a better head set would improve the performance. I would like better mic control, as it is important to not get excess feed back over ventrilo during matches. Basically our whole clan runs these cards, a more realistic mic test feature would be an improvement as would a package deal on recommended headset. Creatives product is directly affected by what you plug into it, they should take this into account. Not many people can let a speaker set rip while gaming, wives don't want to hear 'fire in the hole' at full volume.

My dad talked me into ordering this for his new rig I built. I have a GeForce 680i LT SLI motherboard with 7.1 surround. I play all the same games as him. so far I can not tell a difference in my games or music. We did play some games with the X-FI ''specail'' sounds but I still did not notice a difference. I say dont waste your money but other people sware this card is ''special''. I say if your smart enough to install a sound card you smart enough to mess with a equilizer in Windows Media Player or Winamp. I can not tell any difference in games. I'm huge gamer and play them all. I Think this product is more for bragging rights if there is such a thing.

This is different from the basic Xtreme Gamer card in three ways:
1) A full-on MIDI socket on the card.
2) Gold-plated plugs and bracket.
3) Fatal1ty namesake.
The only one that should be used in your decision is the MIDI socket, as it allows musician/gamers to enjoy their gaming sound, while also allowing their MIDI software to receive much better samples than would otherwise be possible with the smaller plugs.
So, if you're either obsessed with gold/Fatal1ty products or a musician with a gaming itch, this is fine. Otherwise, just get the normal Xtreme Gamer and save yourself a bunch.
If you're not even a gamer, and just like to listen to music, then get the Xtreme Audio, which costs less because it doesn't have all the nice things for gaming.
